HINDMARSH WINS THE PROVAN-SUMMONS MEDAL – AGAIN!
11.12am, Wednesday 9 September 2008

Tireless Pirtek Parramatta Eels second rower Nathan Hindmarsh has once again proven to be the most popular player with the Rugby League public, taking out the Provan-Summons People’s Choice Medal at the Dally M Awards at the Hordern Pavilion.
Hindmarsh’s winning streak in the fan-voted award now extends to four years and counting.
Manly’s Matt Orford claimed the Dally M Medal for player of the year, polling 24 votes to finish two clear of Melbourne pair Billy Slater and Cameron Smith.
Hindmarsh was the Eels highest placed player in the Dally M count, finishing six votes off the lead on 18 for the year.
Feleti Mateo was next for the Eels on 17, with Brett Finch (12), Matthew Keating (2), Chad Robinson, Kris Keating, Luke Burt, Nathan Cayless, Tony Williams, and Weller Hauraki (all 1 vote each) the only others to make the list.

Nathan Hindmarsh takes on the Titans defence in week two of the Finals..

Pirtek Parramatta Eels second rower Nathan Hindmarsh will play his 259th game in Blue & Gold in Friday night’s 1st Preliminary Final showdown with the Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium – equalling the mark set by fellow Eels great Ray Price.

Only Price (259 career appearances) and Brett Kenny (265 career appearances) have played more matches for Parramatta than Hindmarsh, who made his First Grade debut against the Adelaide Rams at Parkes Pioneer Oval in 1998.

Hindmarsh has been named in the second row alongside Ben Smith, in a side that also features Daniel Mortimer and Krisnan Inu.

Inu has missed the past two matches with a hamstring strain while Mortimer suffered a hip injury in last Friday’s 1st semi final win over the Gold Coast Titans at the Sydney Football Stadium.

Tickets for Friday night’s clash with the Bulldogs went on sale to the Public Tuesday morning, after over 12,000 were snapped up Monday in a pre-sale exclusively for Club Members.

Tickets for the match are on sale now through Ticketek at www.ticketek.com.au.

The Pirtek Parramatta Eels Supporters Club will be running a bus service to ANZ Stadium for Friday night’s match.

Tickets are just $16 and are on sale now from reception at Parramatta Leagues Club.

Wentworthville remains in the hunt in the NSW Cup following its 26-16 defeat of Western Suburbs at Leichhardt Oval at the weekend.

The Magpies head back to Leichhardt Oval this Sunday, where they take on the Bankstown City Bulls at 3pm for a place in the decider on NRL Grand Final day.
