Thought it was only fitting that we continue the followings of Handfulls Hobby and his latest freak OCTANOL.

OCTANOL

Brindle D ( Oct 2006 ) Pure Octane - My Girl Georgina
Owner(s): David Hobby
Trainer: David Hobby
Stakesmoney: $51750

Venue Distance Starts - Wins - 2nds - 3rds Best Avg
CAN 530m 9 -5 -3 -1 </FONT>30.17 30.61
MDH 492m 1 -0 -0 -0 </FONT>28.42 28.42
WA Tracks 10 -5 -3 -1

Doing what no other has done sine The Prince of Tigers went on to win the National sprints , im sure that kept safe and sound that dave has booked him self another date with the nationals to be held in WA in 2009.

After once again braining his oposition in a effortless 17len win and in a personal best of 30.17 that he is now looking more of a stayer than ever even if he is still competing in the 530m races.

I say god help any do that has to race him over 600m as he will set splits we havnt seen at Cannington since Elektra won the Galaxy.

This story is about to continue :BLUES: :big band:

With anither great win by the Octanol , i guess now stands the question of just what and when will this dog over the 530m trip.
With every race start he gives more of a indication that he could be the next Distance Champion with a little luck anda lot of cotton.

OCTANOL to Represent WA in New Zealand
The David Hobby-owned and trained OCTANOL will represent Western Australia
in New Zealand’s richest ever greyhound race – the NZ$250,000 Platinum Paws
in mid-October.
The inaugural running of the Platinum Paws celebrates the centenary of
greyhound racing in New Zealand. Eight Australian greyhounds will be drawn
directly into the semi-finals of the series (two into each semi-final), whilst all other
greyhounds will compete via heats the week prior. The semi-finals will be
conducted at Addington Raceway in Christchurch on Friday 10 October. The
NZ$250,000 final will be conducted a week later. Selected events from the three
Platinum Paws meetings will be broadcast on SKY Channel in Australia.
OCTANOL, who has a career record of 14 starts for 7 wins and 4 placings, with
stakes already approaching $60,000 will only turn two years of age just prior to
the running of the Paws semi-finals. He annexed the Group 2 WA Derby at only
his fourth career start; won a heat of the Young Star Classic at Wentworth Park
before an unlucky fourth in the Group 2 final behind CINDEEN SHELBY and was
runner up in the WA leg of the National Sprint Championship upon his return from
Sydney. He finished an unlucky fourth in the Spring Gift Final at Cannington last
Saturday night – his fourth feature final in his short 14-start career.
OCTANOL will join fellow Australian representatives BEVERAGE and
COMFORTABLY NUMB (NSW); LUCKY ALIVE (Qld); COSMIC PHARAOH and
QUE SERA SERA (Vic) in the Paws semi-finals. The South Australian and
Tasmanian representatives will be determined at Angle Park this Thursday and
Launceston next Monday respectively.
