PostSubject: Box1's Marathon Attempt   Sat 24 Oct - 16:20

We here at Box1 take our racing seriously and most of all make sure we have a lot of fun and support each other as we go on.
My daughter who has only had the 1 race at school in which she ran 4th over about 50m with a gutsy harted effort.

Last month with a shine in her eye i was informed that she was tryning to get in for the under6s marathon at her school in which she stepped up to a lap & 1/2 of the school oval(some what a rise since her 50m sprint).
As a father does with full pride and should do so inform my daughter that i willbe only to happy to attend and cheer her on as she tries her hardest.
I always tell her to enjoy her running as well and its about having fun too.

At the end of the day i was there in spirit and support as all parents that attend do but was some what suprised with the out come.

After 2 false starts and a few seconds of deep breaths they came out humming like a 50 m sprint which was quiet a spectacle as the 20+ girls headed for the first turn.

My daughter in the white shirt on the inside of the yellow shirted girl running about 7th copped a few bumpings and ended up about 6 deeep at the first bend and like wise down the back...

As they headed for home with the leader somee 20m in front of 2nd my daughter can be spotted running fourth in the white shirt and what i thought would be her best finishing possi after the gut busting effort so far.

But to my thrills and chills she comes again mighty hard in the straight to suddenly switch around heels and take off and secure 3rd for what i think was 1 of her proudest moments in sport.
I always tell her that ''some times you have to lose to be a win''.

Specail thanks to the cheer squad my wife
