Petrol price falls for second consecutive weekTHE price of petrol has fallen for the second week in a row, with the national average cost of unleaded down to $1.20 a litre.
In the last week petrol has fallen by 2.5 cents, new figures from the Australian Institute of Petroleum revealed.
The Northern Territory remained the most expensive state or territory to fill up in, while a six cent drop in South Australia left the state the only one where motorists could get petrol below $1.20 a litre.
"Motorists are finally getting a reprieve," CommSec economist Savanth Sebastian said.
"Oil companies have certainly done their part, slashing a sizeable two and half cents a litre of the national average price over the last week - marking the biggest fall in over two months."
Mr Sebastian predicted the price would drop further.
"CommSec expects petrol prices to fall by 3-4 cents a litre over the next fortnight."
