Thursday “Happy Hour”
Tomorrow night sees another Quartet “Happy Hour” with carryovers allocated to races at Albion Park, Angle Park, Sandown Park
and Hobart. The fi rst of four jackpots in an abbreviated “Happy Hour” this week gets under way at Angle Park at 7.08pm.
Don’t forget that updated post-scratchings comments and ‘Best of the Happy Hour Jackpot’ selections can be accessed via the
‘See Form’ button on the Happy Hour advert on the tabozbet home page each Thursday.
AD5 – 6.38pm – Mixed 4/5 Heat #2 (600m) – $5,024 Est pool $30k
BRER FOX (1) steps back up to the 600m trip at Angle Park where he has a good record of 3 wins and 9 placings from 16 starts and
will be very hard to beat from the red, especially should he continue his solid recent form displayed over the sprint trips. BARELY’S
IMAGE (2) won over the trip 4 back in quick time when she sat much closer to the lead than expected from in the inside draw. She
is normally very slow early but must be included amongst the winning chances in quartets, especially if she receives any luck in
running again. There are quite a few other run-on types in this fi eld who will be looking to run on into the minors – THIRD EDITION
(3), MAZIN BALE (5) and BLOSSOM STAR (8) should all be considered for the minors. Whilst BAKANA BALE (6) landed on the
bunny in an easier Monday class race over this trip recently and won in fair time, this does look tougher.
SD5 – 6.55pm – Grade 5 (520m) – $5,011 Est pool $30k
The ‘raffl e dog’ THREE FOR TEN (4) is taking all before her at the moment and is three for three already in her career and looking
to go on with it here. She has the best time of the fi eld, having already broken the 30 seconds and on sectionals should be leading
again and setting a cracking pace. The red RAPID UNIT (1) rates next best and has the pace to be prominent from the good draw
and is probably the only other runner that should be included as a winning chance. PRISTINE JOURNEY (3) came from off the pace
to win at Dapto 3 back in 30.68 and is a solid each way hope here. APPLE CROSS (8) has shown pace over the 450 trips before
being run down and might be a silly hope at good odds. PRECOMI (5) and MAGGIE LYN (6) look to be the next best place chances.
BD8 – 7.08pm – Publicans’ Cup Mixed FINAL (520m) – $5,000 Est pool $30k
PURE SURF (2) has been in top form of late and worked his way to the lead at the winning post before running away from them
in his heat. He’ll be hard to toss with a repeat of that performance which saw him set a new PB of 30.06. LUVA DRINK (5) has
been in consistent form and his heat run was good after being slowly away – he should fi gure again in quartet calculations. REAL
FROSTY (7) made the second heat a one-act affair after many in the fi eld were checked early, but she moves out from the red to
the black here which makes it harder. HONEY BUNNY (1) has been in good form and is the other hope from the good draw. Play
wide for the minors.
OD6 – 7.25pm – Invitation (461m) – $5,004 Est pool $30k
The Hobart jackpot this week looms as a dead-set battle in two for the prime position on quartet tickets with the clash between two
very in-form greyhounds in HILTON SAGE (1) and FISHERMAN (3). HILTON SAGE took full advantage of the good draw last week
to jump cleanly and beat a similar fi eld quite easily and has the box draw advantage again here. The well performed FISHERMAN
has always been a promising type and won 3 in a row recently at Launceston in close to best of night times. Their clash will be
worth waiting for and there is every chance they will go 1-2 in the quartet. RIDICULE (7) has drawn well out wide where he likes it
and he should fi gure in the placings. OVER SPEEDING (4) and FRANKLIN SAND (6) are solid chances for the minors along with
REGENT TORNADO (8), who doesn’t mind a wide draw and lines up for his second start after a long break.
MD8 – 7.35pm – Melbourne Cup Prelude #10 (515m) – $5,000 Est pool $30k
The last of the jackpots looks an interesting race with a few well performed runners likely to dominate the market. LYNLEA’S KING
(5) is a speedy type who will be a huge chance to lead here and he can run time when on the bunny. DROOPY MONELLI (7) is
also a big show and comes off a great run in the jackpot race last week where he ran home very well from well back. The green
inside him (MY LUCK’S IN) has shown pace over the shorts and may give DROOPY MONELLI a cart across into the race. The
stayer NITRANE (1) starts back in a sprint race for the fi rst time in a while after a short injury break. He could sprint well fresh and
does have a good record over the trip at Sandown including a best time of 29.89, which would win this race. A couple of run-on
types should fi gure prominently for the minors – WHISTLING DRIVE (2) and HALKIN BALE (3).
